KTIV and Hy-Vee recently concluded the first annual Personal Care Items Drive, collecting 555 pounds of items including toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body and face wash, feminine hygiene products and so much more, benefitting the Food Bank of Siouxland.
Throughout November, people were able to drop off their donations into the blue barrels at every metro Siouxland Hy-Vee location. With personal care items not covered by SNAP or WIC programs, families and individuals can stretch their budget by receiving non-food grocery items.
“These personal care items are just as essential as food,” says Valerie Petersen, Associate Executive Director. “Items like toilet paper, laundry detergent, feminine hygiene products, and so much more are used every day and necessary for healthy living.”
The Personal Care Items Drive was sponsored by KTIV and Hy-Vee. Thank you to all who have donated to this campaign. We are grateful for the support of the Siouxland community in our mission of fighting hunger.
